1.         ANNUAL MEETING: The Annual Meeting will be held on November 9th at 6:00pm, followed by an organization meeting. The meetings will take place in the Fiesta Room and via Zoom. If you have not yet voted and would like to submit a paper ballot, the last opportunity to do so is November 9th from 5:00pm-6:00pm. Zoom information will be sent out separately.
2.         BINGO: Bingo has been cancelled for next Tuesday, November 9th, due to the Annual Meeting. We will have BINGO on November 23rd in the fiesta room starting at 5:30pm. Hope to see you there.

3.         POOL COMMITTEE: The Pool Committee is in need of volunteers. Would you like to assist in keeping the pool one of our prize assets? Do you enjoy the pool, do you spend time in and around the pool? Do you have any experience in this field? If so, please submit an application to join the Pool Committee.

Life Enrichment Series - On Tuesday, November 9th from 1:00 to 2:30 PM in the Fiesta Room. 'JUST BREATHE!" with Sunflower resident Maddie Carr. She will teach yoga breathing techniques to help you "Destress For the Holidays". This is not a yoga session; it is breathing techniques only. All Sunflower residents are welcome to this free event.
The Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society had to cancel their presentation for Friday November 12. However, we were able to arrange for Landscaper, Todd Wallin to talk about witches broom also called desert broom. This is an invasive desert plant species that presents huge problems in Sunflower as well as the surrounding area. Please join us for this free event in the Fiesta Room on 11/12 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM.
Game Night - Game Night is back on Friday, November 5 in the Fiesta Room from 6:30 to 8:30. We will have large round tables for Mexican Train and small tables for 4 for cards and other games. Bring your snacks and beverages, bring your neighbors or come alone and we will match you up with a group. Games, cards and tile rummy will be provided or bring your favorite game.
Club and Group Expo - The Sunflower Club & Group Expo is scheduled this Saturday, November 6 in the Fiesta Room from 1:00 to 3:30 PM. Light refreshments will be served. Find a new hobby or activity from one of the many here at Sunflower. We have so many new residents, we hope you will come by and introduce yourselves!!
FREE POOL PARTY - Sponsored by the Activities Committee
FREE Pool Party on November 12, 2021 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. (New Time) Come enjoy cooling off and listening to the sweet sounds of music provided by our one and only Mike Foreman. You may bring your own food and drink as long as it is in unbreakable containers. This is an adult only Pool Party.
Painting Uncorked - Art class by Sharon Fannin
So you think you need to draw a straight line to paint? Color outside the lines. Every artist was an amateur. Inhale Possibility and exhale Creativity. Come discover your inner talents in a fun and supportive environment. All supplies are included for this 5 hour class AND everyone takes home a completed painting with bragging rights.
You only need to bring an apron or wear something you don't mind a drop of paint getting on and a beverage of your choice.

5.         FITNESS CLUB: All classes on November 11th will be cancelled and will return on November 16th as normal. Thank you!

Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30 to 11:30 AM for November and December (except Dec 16 which is 9:30 to 10:30 am)
No classes December 21st, December 23rd, Dec 27th, Dec, 30th
Also, No classes Jan 4th and Jan 6th
Times for classes are still 10:30  to  11:30 throughout the New Year

6.         POTLUCK: Join us for the November 11th Potluck at 5:30pm. The Sunflower Veterans Club is the sponsor. Tickets are $5.00 per person and on sale Saturday, November 6th at 9:00am to 11:00am. 100% of the proceeds will be going to the local DAV to assist veterans in need.

7.         POTLUCK Host and Kitchen Volunteers: We are in need of host/hostess for December and January potlucks. We also need volunteers to help in the kitchen for the potlucks. Anyone interested, please contact me at 540-538-6502 or

8.         PICKLEBALL CLUB: The Annual Pickleball Club Meeting

WHAT:    Annual Pickleball Club Meeting to Elect Officers 
 All current Pickleball Club members and those who are wanting to become members are invited to our Annual Pickleball Club meeting.  We will be electing officers at this meeting.  Please bring $10.00 for the membership fee.  Food will be provided by the Pickleball Club.  Please bring your own drinks.  RSVP to
All current Pickleball Club members who are interested in running for an office, please contact Terri Lackey at 520-797-0349.  Our current offices are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.  In order to run for an office, you must have access to a computer and word processing software.

9.         DANCE CLUB: The Dance Club is sponsoring the New Year's Eve Dance and tickets will be sold on Dec. 3rd & Dec. 15th.  The price has been reduced to $15.00 per person. Come and join the fun.  Bring your friends and neighbors. You do not need to be a member to attend.
10.      GENEALOGY CLUB: The Sunflower Genealogy Society November meeting program will be by Prof. John Phillip Colletta on "How to Write Biography" held via Zoom on Tuesday, November 16, at 2pm. The video program will help you pull together the information you have gathered on your family in an appealing way. Colletta will discuss how to take your family's vital statistics and create engaging stories by incorporating other elements to make them alive.
11.      TECH CLUB: NEW - Club Membership for using the Technology Lab
In the past, your club may have used the Tech Lab assets for the club. If you intend to use them from now on, we ask that you have a Club Membership in the Technology Club for $50, for the year. All funds received, will help to cover the expenses for equipment maintenance and replacement, plus all consumable supplies.  Club Membership Applications and payment options, are available at the front desk and online at:
If you have a personal Tech Club membership, please do not use the lab resources for your club. If your club does not need to use the lab for club business, then you can continue to use the services available at the front desk for copies, etc.  All committees can also get what they need at the front desk.

Sunday Help Sessions
Back by Popular Demand! The Technology Club is once again hosting Sunday Help sessions. Club members and student volunteers from the Honor Society at Marana High School will be in the conference room and tech lab from 2 to 3:30 pm on November 7.    
12.      MARANA PRESENTATION: The Town of Marana will be holding a meeting on November 30th at 3:00pm in the Fiesta Room. The discussion will be about the Town's water sustainability outlook.

13.      2021-2022 RESIDENT DIRECTORY: Great news, the Resident Directories are ready for pick-up. There is one FREE directory per household.  The cost to purchase an extra directory is $1.00.  Please request your directory at the front desk.  Thank you.

14.      SMOKE DETECTOR TIME: Friday, November 5th.  Please see the front desk for the request form for changing batteries. If your batteries haven't been replaced in four years, now is the time.  Please provide batteries for all of your smoke detectors. Volunteers are needed to assist in this service. Our resident volunteer, Del Gustin, is retiring. This will be his last chance to be of service to the residents and your last chance to show your appreciation for all the years he has been changing batteries.  We all thank you Del for volunteering.
15.      SIDEWALK ISSUES/CONCERNS: If you see that a sidewalk is in need or repair, please contact Marana Public Works at 520-382-2600 to report the issues/concern.
