1.         ELECTION COMMITTEE: The Election Committee would like to invite you to attend "Meet The Candidates" today Thursday, Oct. 7th from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturday, October 9th from 9:00 am - 10:30 am in the Fiesta Room.  Tim and Larry have volunteered their time to also offer ZOOM and the Election Committee is thankful for their support.  Please take the time to get to know the Candidates who will be representing all of us going forward and VOTE.  
2.         COFFEE KLATCH: This Saturday, October 9th there will be no Coffee Klatch. Please join us again on October 16th at 8:00am.

3.         BREAST CANCER AWARENESS POTLUCK: Oct. 21st, 5:30 social, dinner at 6:00. Tickets are $2.00, bring a dish to share or tickets are free if you bring a main dish. Ticket sales Oct 7th, 12pm to 2pm, and then on the 15th from 10am to 12pm. Bring your own utensils, beverage of choice, water and tea will be provided. Let's WELCOME our good old fashion potlucks back to the center. WEAR PINK. Any questions call Sharyn at 665-8830.

4.         GARDEN CLUB: The Vintage Gardeners are re-starting this season with a "Meet & Greet" on Monday, October 11, at 12:30 p.m. in the Fiesta Room.  We're especially happy to be introducing Lois Croly as our new president.  Members will be voting for their favorite photo of a cactus flower grown in the Sunflower community which will be on display.  Pizza will be served, 50/50 raffle tickets sold, and a door prize awarded.  New members are welcome to attend and check us out!
5.         PICKLEBALL CLUB: Pickleball Club morning hours have changed as of October 1, 2021. Monday through Saturday morning hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  Evening hours will remain the same, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

6.         DANCE CLUB: The Dance Club will be selling tickets for the October 30th Halloween Dance on Saturday, October 16th from 9 am - 11 am.  The tickets are $12 per person.  Please note that our dances and activities are offered to the entire Community.  You can also call Karen at 586-292-6177 to make arrangements to purchase them.  DJ, Costume prizes, free photo and more.

7.         ACTIVITY COMMITTEE: Sponsored by the Sunflower Activities Committee:

You are invited to the Free Sunflower Community MUSIC UNDER THE STARS event. Don't miss this twice a year special event. It will be held at the Village Center back patio and on the grass. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music of GIANT BLUE featuring Anna Warr. Giant Blue provides high-quality jazz-rock and blues with Anna Warr on vocals, a monster horn section and a HOT rhythm section. Tables and chairs will be set up on the patio or bring your lawn chair.

Bring: Lawn Chairs and BYO Beverage and snacks
Dinner: Jozarelli's Italian Food Truck will be selling Italian specialties starting around 4PM. Dessert: Fitness Club will be selling Ice Cream Sandwiches.
Life Enrichment Series - Larry Allen and the University of Arizona are world leaders in Tree Ring Science. Please join the Life Enrichment Series Talk on Friday, Oct. 15th at 1:00 in the Fiesta Room to hear Larry explain specific examples of research that has not been previously understood. Trees can talk...let's listen!
The Life Enrichment Series Talk of Wednesday Oct. 27th, will have Donna Nordin of Tucson's Cafe Terra Cotta to discuss and show examples of Southwestern chiles and recipes... plus end with a "tasting"! Get your free raffle ticket at the door for the door prize. Please note that seating is limited to 50 and tickets are going fast! Next ticket sale is Tuesday, Oct. 12th from 9-11AM. Tickets are $5 each.

Food Trucks - La Colombiana and RJ's American Asian will be at Sunflower Thursday, October 14. They will start around 4PM. The back patio and Fiesta Room will be set up for dining and DJ Mike will be providing music for your dining and dancing pleasure. BYO Beverage and snacks for Happy Hour starting at 4:30PM.
KARAOKE IS BACK!!!! Louis Aquino will be back at the Fiesta Room the third Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30PM. Mark your calendars for the return of this very popular event. There is no charge to attend, but donations are appreciated. See you there on October 19.
October Pool Party - You don't have to swim to come to the pool party! The FREE Pool Party will be on Friday, October 22nd from 5:30 to 8:30. Music will be provided by our DJ extraordinaire, Mike Foreman. This is the last scheduled pool party of the season. If you want us to sponsor more pool parties, email and let us know. BYO Beverage and food in non-glass containers and enjoy our beautiful desert fall evenings. This is an adult's only event.
8.         GENEALOGY SOCIETY: Michelle Goodrum will present "Using Land Records" at the Zoom October meeting of the Sunflower Genealogy Society on Tuesday, October 19 at 2pm. The local courthouse holds records about the purchases and sales of your ancestor's property. Often you can determine where they migrated to or from, as well as other very useful information in your family history search.  Attend this interesting program to make use of these courthouse records!
9.         VETERANS CLUB FALL BBQ:  VETERANS CLUB BBQ FUNDRAISER:  OCTOBER 23RD, $12/TICKET.  Each ticket gets you two sandwiches and all the sides.  Complete details are in the Sun Catcher. To purchase tickets online (no PayPal account needed) go to:  In person purchases can be made on Saturday October 16th in the Center Lobby between 9 and 10:30AM.  This is also the final day for ticket sales. 10.      TECH CLUB: Please join us next Wednesday, October 13th at 10:00a.m. in the Fiesta Room for our monthly meeting.  Liz Perry will be sharing tech tips, about organizing all things medical. All are welcome! Important club business to be discussed as well!
11.      ROSIE'S SUNFLOWER BINGO:  The cage is rolling again, next Tuesday, October 12th in the Fiesta room. The doors open at 5:30pm, 6:00pm we start winning money!  Bring your friends!
12.      2021-2022 RESIDENT DIRECTORIES: Great news, the Resident Directories are ready for pick-up. There is one FREE directory per household.  The cost to purchase an extra directory is $1.00.  Please request your directory at the front desk.  Thank you.

13.      SMOKE DETECTOR TIME: Friday, November 5th.  Please see the front desk for the request form for changing batteries. If your batteries haven't been replaced in four years, now is the time.  Please provide batteries for all of your smoke detectors. Volunteers are needed to assist in this service. Our resident volunteer, Del Gustin, is retiring. This will be his last chance to be of service to the residents and your last chance to show your appreciation for all the years he has been changing batteries.  We all thank you Del for volunteering.
14.      COMMUNITY YARD SALE: Saturday, October 16th.  Sign-up at the front desk. Fee is $5.00. Deadline for signing up and getting on the map is Tuesday, October 12th.

15.      POLICY CHANGES: The Board of Directors approved at the September BOD meeting to post the revisions to three (3) of the policies for 30-days. The changes will be for Policy 6.01 Facilities Rental Policy, Procedure for Non-Catered Food Events and Procedure for Association Sponsored Catered Food Events. Policies are posted at the Village Center and are posted to the website (under "Announcements") for review. We ask that you review and add or forward any comments to Andrea Eisenhauer at
16.      POOL GATE AND INFORMATION: After further discussion at the September Board meeting, the east pool gate will no longer be open during the Village Center's operating hours. If you are coming to the fitness center or pool when the center is open, please come thru the center, scan at the entry doors and then you will need to scan your proximity cards again at the fitness doors or interior pool gate. If the proximity card is not scanned in both location it will not allow you access. REMINDERS: the pool and fitness center will remain closed from 12:30pm-1:30pm for daily cleaning,
all guests must register at the front desk and must be accompanied by the Sunflower resident at all times, including  afterhours (please register earlier in the day if you know you're guest will be attending afterhours-thank you). Please ensure all rules are being obeyed. If you see rules not being followed please let staff know, you can come into the center or call us at 520-572-9780. Alerting our staff would be much appreciated. This way, we are able to address any issue(s).
