1.         PRIMAVERA UPDATE: It is not necessary to totally remove labels from the used prescription bottles being donated.  However, make sure to remove any personal information from the labels. You can also include small supplement bottles (from vitamins etc.) similar in size to prescription bottles.  Thanks again for all of your donations.
2.         GENEALOGY CLUB: Sunflower Genealogy Society invites members and guests on February 16th for a Zoom presentation by historian Robert Wilbanks IV entitled "Heading West, Starting Fresh: Our Ancestors and American Expansion," an historical overview of migration within the United States.  Wilbanks will explain the geography of the eastern United States, how it influenced early settlement, and westward expansion after the Revolution through the post-Civil War period.  If you have not received an emailed link, contact Buzz Brooks (520-235-5467).
3.      SUN CATCHER ARTICLE WRITERS: It is that time again and your articles are due by February 12th.  If you haven't sent one in, please do so as soon as possible. I acknowledge every article.  If you sent one in and have not received an acknowledgment, please contact Lori at Thank you.
4.         CIF ELECTION: The Community Improvement Fund Election to approve the expenditure of CIF funds on designated projects will open March 8, 2021 thru April 19, 2021. If homeowners missed the presentations on the projects held February 3rd and 6th, they were recorded and posted on the Sunflower website under the tab "Bod Meeting Videos" that may be watched (call the Village Center if you need login information). A Special Edition of the Sun Catcher will be available the first of March which will provide a summary of all the projects and costs. Watch for it.
5.         LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE: The Board of Directors has made the decision to adopt Smartscape practices for our community. Smartscaping includes building diversity into the landscape design; it's not just gravel and cacti.
Follow this link to treat yourself to a peek at the vast array of plants that are suitable for our desert environment. It will give you an idea of how beautiful our common landscaping can be and may also inspire you in terms of your own yard. There is a menu at the top of the page so you can dive deeper into specific types of plants if you wish. Your committee is truly excited about the direction our Sunflower community is heading.
If you haven't already heard the CIF presentation given last week, please take some time to learn more about it here

In our next installment, we will be looking at irrigation matters.
6.         AGE VERIFICATION: It's that time again. Age Verification forms need to be updated every 2 years and we are starting early this year. We are hoping that this will help in limiting the number of people visiting the Village Center at one time.
The next update needs to be completed by March 2021. Please come by the Village Center and visit the front desk or you can download the form by visiting the Sunflower website at and navigating to the Forms page. The Village Center is open every day from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Please bring a valid photo ID or any other valid form of ID for verification.
If you have recently purchased your home, you may not need to complete one.  However, if you would like to confirm that we have your form on file, please contact the front desk at (520) 572-9780.
For homeowners that are out of state, please e-mail Margie Rivera at
7.         UPDATING CONTACT INFORMATION: Have you had a change in your billing address, telephone number, e-mail address or emergency contact information? If so, we want to hear from you. With 2021 well on its way, we would like to ensure that we have accurate contact information on file. Please e-mail any updates for your account to Margie Rivera or Andrea Eisenhauer
8.         COVID VACCINE UPDATE: We have been informed that Marana Health Center has been out of vaccine since Monday. Tucson Convention Center didn't have appointments available. Fry's seems to be out of appointments or vaccine. Safeway is still not notifying people about vaccine availability. Pima County Health Department site for Banner north or south was available.
9.         BOARD MEETING: The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 10:00am via ZOOM. Zoom login information will be sent at a later time. If you do not receive the login information please contact the Village Center.
