The Latest News
1. SUNFLOWER CHORALE SPRING CONCERT: The Sunflower Chorale, under the direction of Barbara Honn, invites you to its Spring Fling concert on this Thursday April 19th and Friday, the 20th. The concert starts at 4:30pm in the Fiesta Room. Audience seating is first-come/first-served, and seating is limited. Your past donations have allowed the chorale to purchase music and continue to offer community concerts free of charge. Thank You! again, as in the past, donations are encouraged and will be accepted at the performance. Mark your calendars and plan to enjoy the musical talents of your Sunflower neighbors!
2. 2018 FINE ARTS AND CRAFTS FESTIVAL: The 18th annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival is scheduled this year and on November 2nd and 3rd. The application is available at the front desk and also online at www.sunflowerliving.com. Go to resident information, scroll down to forms and click Fine Arts Festival for the application. You will also be able to fill out the application online and then print it. Get your application in early to secure your favorite spot. We are encouraging any new artists and crafters to join us this year. It's really a lot of fun! *Please note that your checks need to be made out to Linda Jordan. If you have any questions, you can call Linda Jordan, Committee Chair at 520-572-1705.
3. CULINARY CLUB MEETING: The Culinary Club meeting this month is a trip to Alfonso Gourmet Olive Oil and Balsamics (7854 N Oracle Road). The owner will be giving us information and a 10% discount. The trip is on April 30th. We will be leaving the Village Center at 10:30am. Please sign up at the front desk before April 24th. Culinary Club members, alums and interested residents are welcome. If there are questions call Mary Milbrath 572-2086.
4. POTLUCK COMMITTEE: The May potluck will be on May 10th. We are calling it the May Flowers Potluck (even though there have not been any April showers yet) and tickets will be on sale April 25th and May 2nd from 10 to 12 in the lobby of the Village Center. Tickets are $2 per person unless you bring a main dish and then 2 tickets are free. We hope to see you there to celebrate spring! Questions to Lillian Fraire 977-5026.
5. SINGLES AND FRIENDS: We will begin selling tickets for our May 19th event at this Saturday's "Spring Fling". The tickets are $10 and we will be having Chicken, Salads and Dessert. Memorial Day is in May so we will be paying tribute to our Veterans. Please bring your money so you can buy your ticket.
6. TECH HELP: David Koplik from Marana High School will again be in the Computer Lab this Saturday, April 21st from 2 to 4pm. Also, our last device help session will be held on Sunday, April 22 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm in the Craft Room
7. USING THE HOA TECHNOLOGY: There was been some issues with the use of the technology equipment supplied by the Association. Please observe the following:
Do not use any equipment other than what is provided. Do not use your own wireless mouse, use the wired one provided. The only outside equipment allowed is a flash drive to load your presentation files.
Use only the software provided on those computers. Do not download and install any software. If you need something added, please submit a request through the manager.
Do not disconnect any cables, lines, Ethernet connections, etc. This equipment is pre-configured to work with what it is attached to and moving any of those lines around makes it hard on the next group trying to use the equipment.
Do not disconnect devices to hook up another computer. When webcasting, screen share only works with the computer that is there and will not show something on another computer. The data projector is optimized to work with the computer on the cart as is the TV in the conference room.
Do not change any settings on the computers, cameras, projectors or TV. Turning off screen sharing because you don’t need it doesn’t do the next user any good when they cannot understand why their screen isn’t showing up on the TV.
Do not move or remove equipment. Constantly moving the laptop in the conference room from one side to the other is stressing the HDMI output port and it is starting to work intermittently.
If using the wireless microphones, either the HOA ones or the tech club ones, remember to turn them OFF when finished and leave everything behind to be properly stored. If borrowing the tech club microphones for your own club event, bring your own 9V batteries.
Most importantly, if you do not know how to use the equipment provided, please ask Julie Hoover to put you in touch with someone who can teach you. The HOA is trying to keep the most current technology available to the community but cannot do so if pieces of it are being broken or walked off with. Thank you for your cooperation.
